Welcome to Common Culture Coaching & Consulting!

Updated: Feb 4, 2022

Welcome to Common Culture Coaching & Consulting (CC)! For this first post, I wanted to take some time to briefly introduce who we are. First and foremost, we are excited about work! More specifically, we are excited about workplaces where everyone is welcome to be their full authentic selves and have the opportunity to thrive in their careers. We are passionate about this because we've experienced microaggressions and the plethora of other things that historically excluded communities experience in the workplace. We have supported leaders from a variety of backgrounds who've experienced the same, if not, worse, and we know they deserve better. We know can do and be better.

We know this because of people like you reading this blog post. As long as there are people like you, equity-minded society changers, organizations have the potential to be places where folks can show up authentically and fully. If we are honest, you may need to start this equity-focused organization because most companies were built without the wisdom of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, those who are differently-abled, and immigrant communities in mind, and YOU can change that.

We believe in you and are ready to partner with you to make it happen.

We have a dream that one-day organizations will be run by equity-minded leaders who create positive societal impact.

Our Name

Our desire for equity and justice in the workplace is how we came up with our name. “Common,” meaning shared, or something you see every day, and “culture,” being all of the values, beliefs, and norms that make up a group, society, or organization. By bringing the two together, we want to work to normalize everyday experiences for everyday workplaces.

Different isn't weird.

Different isn't divisive.

Different is EVERYONE AND EVERYDAY.

That is why our mission is to center the experiences of those who have been historically excluded and reimagine a more equitable workplace.

Let's normalize different so everyone can belong.

Services

We provide support to individuals and teams alike, coaching and consulting leaders in higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, and for-profit organizations on creating sustainable and thriving cultures that encourage diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice.

How we support leaders: Leadership & Career Coaching

Over the last decade, we have coached and consulted leaders in higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, and for-profit organizations on creating sustainable and thriving cultures that encourage diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice.

How we assist organizations: Culture Consulting

We do not believe that one individual or organization holds the keys to knowledge. When we consult, we consider ourselves thought partners with our clients, and we collaborate to find the best strategy and solution that works for them. We believe that collaborative partnerships, imaginative solutions and strategies, and honest dialogue will produce the workplaces employees want to be a part of and deserve.

Common Culture CC supports organizations with:

  • Team Development

  • Leadership & Career Coaching

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) organizational efforts

  • DEIJ Organizational Strategy

How we develop teams: Facilitations|Workshops|Trainings

The development and implementation of leadership and organizational ideologies have excluded certain groups such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, those who are differently-abled, and immigrants. But the wisdom from historically excluded communities is needed for organizations to thrive and become more equitable for all. This is why we seek to develop programming that centers the wisdom of these communities and is focused on the intersectionality of DEIJ & leadership for team, career, and organizational development.

Work CAN be better.

It's not about making more money (but let's be real, it helps). It's not about pool tables and free lunch. It's about treating people like people. It requires us to not only reimagine our organizations altogether but center the knowledge and wisdom of historically excluded communities.

Work is not the center of our lives. We get that work can be a means to an end. We all need to live. But, the status quo of how business is run isn't working for everyone.

We can do better and we are ready to partner with you if you believe the same.
